Laureates of the prize in the nomination "Scientific research in the field of rational use of natural resources, ecology and environmental protection": Academician of the RAS Z.R. Ismagilov, the scientific director of the FRC ССС SB RAS; Sc.D. S.I. Zherebtsov, a chief researcher in the FRC ССС SB RAS; Sc.D. Zhuravleva N.V., the director of the Western Siberian Testing Centre for their collaborative scientific work "Research in the field of rational use of natural resources, ecology and environmental protection in the coal-mining Kemerovo region (Kuzbass)".
The Makariev Award, a Russian academic prize named after Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna Makarii (Bulgakov), was established in 1867 with the aim of: "encouraging domestic talents who devote themselves to science and general useful pursuits ...".
These prizes were awarded from 1884 to 1917. Their fund was revived in 1995. The founders of the establishment are the Russian Orthodox Church, the Moscow Government and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The award is presented every two years. The Foundation Expert Council consists of specialists from the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University, Moscow Theological Academy, and the Orthodox Encyclopedia Church Research Center. The Council is headed by the RAS academician S.P. Karpov.
Scientists and scientific councils of RAS institutes, Academicians of the RAS and its Corresponding Members in their specialties have the right to nominate papers for the prize.
The laureates are awarded diplomas, medals, cash prizes and the multi-volume metropolitan Macarius book "History of the Russian Church". The most important criterion to evaluate works is their scientific influence.
The presentation of the 2020's awards was made by the chairman of the Foundation, Metropolitan Vikenty; the vice-president of the RAS N.A. Makarov; the head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of the City of Moscow V.I. Suchkov; the chairman of the Expert Council for Prizes in Natural Sciences the vice-president of the RAS V.N. Parmon.
In 2020, works in three nominations were accepted for the competition in the field of natural sciences.
